Wind Power

Who has seen the wind?

As I write this my wife and I are on a vacation in lovely France. Driving up the A7 auto route to Paris we have seen powerful wind generators that spot the countryside.  Wind generation is on the rise today as a source of electrical energy since it has such a soft eco-footprint with no toxic wastes or side effects.

The beauty of the wind moving and creating power through wind generators encourages us to seek the wind of His Spirit in our lives.  There are certain things you do where you can almost be assured you will feel a fresh breeze of His love. What are those things? How can you increase this in your life?  Giving your attention to it, seeking and hungering after His Spirit are practical keys for the increase.

The Creator put this picture of the wind generators before us to remind us of the release of energy that comes to us when His spirit moves. It is truly a great mystery that as we yield to the Holy Spirit, He creates energy both in us and in those we lead or minister to, in that very moment.

The blades of wind-electric turbines capture wind energy and rotate a shaft that powers a generator, producing electricity. Thus transferring wind power into usable electricity. It is interesting to note that the heating of the earth by the sun creates the wind. The sun is symbolic of how the Lord’s light, truth and love warm the earth, creating the breezes of His Spirit to refresh us.

Much study is given to find the best spots of consistent wind currents for these wind turbines. As Christians we realize our dependence upon the Holy Spirit in everything that we do.  It is good for us to also give time and consideration to the patterns of the wind in our lives. Many wind generators are placed on hilltops or ridges because the wind is steadier there and less gusty. This encourages us to find our own high places (heavenly encounters) and aim the intent of our heart into that wind and receive from the Lord’s energy for us.

Each of us have seen wonderful and unique ways that the Lord has breathed upon our lives: times where He touches our hearts; times of everyday life where He brings to us revelation or a strong sense of His presence and love. And always there is a wonderful transfer of His energy into our lives by these winds of the wonderful Holy Spirit.

David was a master at capturing Wind Power as shown in II Samuel 5:23 & 24. He knew that it was critical to victory in battle.  Once a Philistine army was encamped in the valley of Rephaim waiting to attack Jerusalem.  David prayed for instruction from the Lord as to whether to attack or not and the Lord answered him this way:

“…circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.  And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly.”

David followed this instruction and was waiting in place in the mulberry trees for the wind and when it blew he routed the Philistine army.  The breath of victory was upon him in that moment.

Let us also seek instruction and direction from the Lord as the enemies attack. The Holy Spirit is the strength and favor on our lives. Let us daily study His wind patterns and arrange our lives to receive more fully of His wonderful grace.
